Are they shy of humans?

Yes, we have lots of wild animals around.

Drc726, they should be nocturnal but this one comes to feed on the seed below the birdfeeder during the day.
Not every day. I do not chase it away so I do not know how shy they are. But they could be pests in the vegetable garden and some people who have chicks would be very unhappy to have them around.
