Well, I'm just glad that we're now getting some rain overnight now (although, I was so vexed for those of you in the west and south of UK with all that water). I was fed up having to water! Typically never happy - too warm, too windy, to wet, etc!

I agree, Marguerite! You can just see some broad beans behind the corn in this pic. This is my favourite garden science bit. I would always grow beans in the same plot as the sweetcorn. Beans deposit nitrogen into the soil, and sweetcorn thrives on nitrogen, so they are the perfect plant companions. Alas, our broad beans have now all but finished producing. We look forward to them every year, eaten stright out of the pods, or put into salads, or turned into a really gr8 creamy dip.
