Named for Victoria on Vancouver Island. Apparently, variety is the hardiest of the ceanothus family.
Deer resistant. They take hard pruning well ...after they bloom
I liked this bush so much that I bought 6 of them but was disappointed with its performance in my garden.
I planted them in several spots with different growing conditions. I have them for 6 years and this year several
of them look very good. Loaded with flowers and bees go mad around them.

I hope so. I know that they are short lived plants, but 3 years is little too short. I do not think they are happy in the wet climates. We have too much rain in the winter ( I assume you do as well).

too much rain - full stop Klahanie!!!!
If we get more than a couple of weeks hot weather in the summer they call it a drought - hose pipe bans all round!!!!! :(

Well, yes, they are told to be the hardiest variety. I had this sort just one season, it was destroyed by frosts :-(

Our friends here on the Island had to put theirs under their patio (partly). They live only couple of miles from here but their place is much frostier than ours. We live closer to the ocean and it moderates our temperatures. They also have it warmer on a hot sunny days.
Theirs survive quite nicely(I was there yesterday). Mine are doing well also this year. They will not survive in longer freezing temperatures.
Sorry Katarina.

Let's hope they keep improving Klahanie. They are such a lovely blue.
We had one for 2 or 3 years then it just died!
They don't like our winters too much!!!
I don't blame them - neither do I!!!!
