First Tulips

I held over these bulbs all winter to plant and place out while we were still frozen in May. They came up nice and slow and though few blooms, nice healthy clump to move into the garden bed. My first try of tulip in Alaska, very prone to predation.

Thank you. I thought they would be too dark for my liking, but its a very bold one now I see it. This is negrita and it was a mix with shirley which didn't show a face. That is more white with purple edging.

Thank you! I am so glad to have them. They must be planted now in a rodent cage so that voles don't eat them as a winter cache.
