All waiting patiently to be planted. Little did I know this would be the first of weeks of dry hot weather 30C average with no night relief, no night! They have been working hard, and working me hard throughout to keep them happy as they try to settle in.

We have been cooking in it. We get some hot summer days, but this has been unending! And just no relief, rare is the air conditioned building in the arctic. :-)
Yesterday, a wild chickadee landed on me while I was pouring from the watering can! It stood there, on me, focusing on the stream of water before jumping directly into it! Then recovering from the splash, it landed to drink frantically from the pooling water before it soaked in! Big slurping gulps.
It was just astounding, and made me very aware how dire the heat was getting. Wild flowers have been dried up and limp on the roadsides.

Global warming for you GT..... for us, cool rainy with the odd warm afternoon which is very humid due to the rain....so much for my dry gravel border...lol!
Yes when you think how the heat affects the wildlife....hey you could create a pool.....could send you water from here....:))

Lol, today the rain has broke, and without any lightning so far, which is luck, the fire risk is so intense.
That was the strange thing about the bird, I have a small water pool on the step I've seen them drinking from. (Birdbath has a hole) I think the humidity created from watering the garden was drawing birds from further than my local crowd. Alaskans are not used to having to water anything and many will not think of it due to the heat so I might be an oasis.
