Are you allowed to cover them? I remember my grandmother complaining about the company always sending her letters saying her plants had to be kept trimmed back so that the meter could be read! She used to hate that thing!

I know what you mean Wohlibuli and agree with you grandmother, I loathe the the thing as well, especially on the FRONT of the house. The meter readers do need access. However, both shrub and hydrangea are 4-5 feet away from the meter (doesn't look like it in the picture), but from the side as they get taller and from a distance the meter will be visually covered (not actually covered.) Like your grandmother if I get too close I'll surely hear from the utility company!

Your right it looks more covered then it seems. Hope the meter reader doesn't tramp on your lovely plants!

In the Uk, they put meters at the side of the house, away from view, as mine is. By the way, your front garden is very lush and beautiful. So does the whole street!
