This is a gorgeous, very large calla. Typically, callas go dormant here in summer...they're at their best in winter. Photo taken June 25, 2013 in the Botanical Building in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

And dont forget the variegated Monstera. It's California's answer to the variegated Pothos seen in the tropics.

Variegated Monstera grows with no problems. I've seen some really nice Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) both the green and variegated forms grow out side here. All these plants are represented here in this big lath house (The Botanical Building in Balboa Park).
I have Philodendron 'Brasil' which was climbing on my shade structure and on the house. I had to cut it back when the house was painted 4 months ago. I don't think this vine would grow outside in Hayward (during winter).
