This poplar tree was cut down at the bank of the river Vah, evidently some time ago. However, at the top of the dead trunk, which is hanging over the river, there are new sprigs shooting. Very interesting.

Hahaha, Fran. When I will be retired, this will be maybe my program of a day. I have noticed your new avatar. I have very similar one on the Facebook ;-)

Do you think it is drawing moisture from the branch in the water it might even be capable of putting roots down.

maybe some of the roots weren't completely severed; surely a tree would need more than water or water vapour?

Just to enhance speculation: this tree was pulled here from somewhere. No roots.

oh! then maybe it put out a fw feeble ones after it was brought. Wonder why someone would drag a whole tree and leave it half over water?

Because they made fires from branches here. This bank is full of fireplaces. Fishermen.
