yes they can be as tough as old boots. they don't like prolonged wet though.

The bees and birds love the flowers. I discovered our woodpeckers and various tits like the nectar in the flowers.

a few years ago now a friend of ours said to me hav u got a red hot poker and wen i said no its always quite cool she blushed me and my wife laffed but i knew wot she meant,well i grew sum that year then lost them in a terrible winter that we had here 2 years ago wen i lost all but 3 palm trees out of 17 but to my astonishment they are all growing back now from the roots that survived
