Well I never! Eremurus stenophyllus( Foxtail Lily) I planted 3 of these 4 years ago and the following year another 2, nothing but foliage every summer until this year when I have one bloom.

What is it? (Forgive my ignorance!)

Its a Eremurus stenophyllus( Foxtail Lily) sorry I forgot to say.

They are not easy, we only had one come up this year, yet we had 5 last year......

indeed Mouldy but it seems very difficult to get them to flower

Any particular reason, or just a difficult plant?

Dont know why Mouldy, but it seems other members have the same problem with these.

Think I'll give it a miss, then. Lol.

A few more years under my belt as a gardener & maybe the confidence levels will be high enough to try the more difficult plants.

After over 30 years of gardening Mouldy I find I still have successes and failures. I like to try things and in my heavy clay its very hit and miss, like this Eremurus stenophyllus it actually prefers a sandy soil so I am pushing it expecting them to do well. I found my confidence grew the more the more gardening I did myself.
