About the same as me...just enough for a pie - when I added my black currant and gooseberry harvests as well... :)))

Hi , Karen , have you been away ?
Haven't seen you around for ages .
The cherries were delish , but I'm up to my knees in red and blackcurrants , jelly and jam ++ , and my only gooseberry bush (quite large) has yielded 6lbs , in freezer awaiting jam production .
We have a dark-red leaved plum , which I only discovered WAS a plum a couple of years ago .... 5lbs of jam there !
Just the weather for this caper too , 30c odd today .

Hi Driad,
Long time no see!
"You seem to have been away for a very long time...", (do you remember that old film , "Brief Encounter", ??!)
"Yes, dear, but I'm back again", she said...lol :))
No handsome doctor involved here...just builders... :(((
Am so envious of your fruit bushes...my gooseberry died in childbirth...
It's too, too, hot, here...47° before lunch-time...

Hi, Karen , just love Brief Encounter .
Never mind handsome doctors , I seem to remember that you had handsome youths doing the building last year !
47c is far too hot ; my daughter and her family are near Concareau on holiday at present , and they have about 20c and lots of rain , such a shame , but they are making the best of it .
The gooseberry bush cost me 15pence from a roadside stall a good few years ago .

Mmm yummy , the only cherries we see are small wild ones ,it's useless trying to grow your own as the birds have them :o(

Hi , Amy , I'm beginning to think that you are right .
We did have two cherry trees when we lived in Germany , and , now I remember , never many "eating" ones . The sour cherries were wonderful for jam though .
The blossom was just magnificent on the "eating" one ; we would awake one day in April and the white reflection made us wonder if it had snowed or if the tree had done its beautiful "thing", until we peeped out .
It was a really mature tree , the children had a swing beneath it .

Sounds perfect Julia , I've alway wanted a swing hanging from a tree ! there use to be several Cherry trees lining the side of the road going towards one of the local towns you could see the cherries at the tops of the trees why the birds didn't have them I don't know ,perhaps they did , anyway we passed a couple of times to see lorries parked under the trees with the driver standing on top of his lorry happily picking the cherries , someone must have decided it was a hazzard because not long afterwards we noticed all the trees had been cut down :o(

I haven't seen bullace this year yet , have you , Amy ?
It's about time for sloes , too .
Shame about those cherry trees , though .

I only know of a few places where Bullace grows Julia I haven't been to look ! I tried making Bullace jam one year it was a disaster you needed a chistle to get it out of the jar LOL .. I shall be looking for Sloes in Sept. to make our usual Sloe gin for Christmas ,we haven't finished last years lot yet ..

Amy , give the bullace another go , it makes lovely jam .
We just haven't seen them in their usual haunts this year , maybe they are a bit late .
As for sloe gin , I have several vintages in the cupboard now , never quite manage to finish the previous year's , and they are all slightly different .
