hostas on the deck

What is the plant in front of the Hostas?It's very attractive.

It is Metasequoia (dawn redwood). Totally inappropriate plant for the pot and deck. It is a huge fast growing tree too big for a small garden. I will have to transplant it soon . It is a conifer which is deciduous.

Thanks, Klahanie. I do know the tree, just didn't recognise it in its small state & in a pot. I've seen big ones in Botanic Gdns & parks. Nice tree.
