Actually Xela, I watched Gardeners World last Friday and Monty Dom was splitting Iris's so it is exactly the right time! The french love their iris's so I have gained them from all over the place mainly blue or purple. But this time I decided to look for different colours, well I got a bit of yellow with this one at least lol, and the (hopefully) pink one I bought will bloom next Spring.

Well that's good news, if Monty Don is doing it now mine stand a fair chance.... I may give a few more clumps the same treatment. I thought they had to be done soon after they flower, but everything is that much later this year even in Southern France (the rose buds here burst just after we arrived a couple of weeks ago, they are a picture at the moment). Good luck with your pink Iris.

Lol, as you say it is lovely anyway. My partner has just bought a property in The Cerdagne [dept. 66] and there are clumps of irises all over the garden. The previous owner told us they were blue too, they haven't flowered yet this year, don't suppose they will now.... I think they may need lifting and splitting to regenerate so I have disturbed a couple of clumps ( I know it's late in the season for doing this but nothing ventured nothing gained!).
