Hollyhock in Godalming

Hollyhock in Godalming

Last year, just as the first buds were beginning to open, this plant was smashed to bits by persons unknown & strewn over the path, hence the reason for my photo this year, because this year it escaped destruction.

Thank goodness it escaped such a fate this year. It's wonderful.

The culprits should be stripped, then flogged...with stinging nettles!

Good idea, M. One has to be glad tho' that they took out their bad feelings on a plant & not an animal or a person.

Hopefully, just high jinks & not the precursor to further yobbish behaviour, eh?

A wonderful specimen, such a shame someone destroyed it, but so pleased to hear you have saved some seed. hopefully we will be able to admire it in your garden next year;0)
