it's a fire on the other side of the hill!

What happened, Lia? Did the fire services manage to get it under control? That is so dangerous and frightening.
We have very high levels of fire alert up here on the mountain, and twice in the past, we've been packed up ready to leave the house, fire has come so close. Everything is SO dry - it's like a tinderbox, and fire races incredibly fast. Within the last week, the farmer who comes and cuts the hay in our friends' field for them, didn't dry his fodder crops out sufficiently, baled them up and they spontaneously combusted. He lost €80,000 worth of winter feed for his cattle, 2 outhouses and a tractor. The Vigili di Fuoco fined him, too. He won't do that again, will he?

This fire was on the beach on the other side of the hill, it's a natural reserve and the next day I knew that it was fraudulent because of the restricion for building! Don't know what will happen now! To turn off the fire two canadaires airplaine were emploied for three hours at least!
