Petunia 4

This one is actually purple, but appears blue to my phone camera. Go figure.

I thought it was an unusual colour! These are my favourites and I plant loads because I love the scent.

Lol mate sometimes my camera does that too, no idea why but can be annoying :-))

My camera's not very good. I didn't take many photos at all until I became obsessed with GoY!

I'll grow them again next year, Mel, as the insects love them.
Me, I don't like the scent...it reminds me of diesel fumes, plus I've found it a claggy plant, when I'm deadheading flowers, leaves & stalks.
I have to get really close to the plant with this next-to-useless phone camera, take several shots, then pick the best & try to crop it. Lol.
Surrey, I thought, but only for a day, that I was colour-blind! Lol.
I KNEW that I didn't have blue petunias, couldn't understand what was happening, then remembered the struggle I had to capture the orange of my 1st nasturtium flower & also how Floralhead2 said it's a difficult colour to catch.
Maybe this deep rich purple is the same, so I gave up trying after 27 goes. Lol.

I agree that petunias can be horribly sticky to deadhead. Some are worse than others. I use scissors on the really claggy ones!

No, I'm a hands on person & love the feel of the earth & plants, I've discovered, which begs the question...why did I buy gardening gloves? Lol.

I've just re-read your earlier comment. Does the smell really remind you of diesel fumes? What a pity - I think it's lovely. (Mind you - I love the smell of petrol - not sure about diesel!) I rarely wear gloves, except when I'm dealing with nettles or my very thorny Cecile Brunner, but I still dislike those very sticky petunias.

Unfortunely, a place I worked, back in the 80's, had cars, vans & lorries backing up inside the industrial unit at all hours with exhaust fumes pumping all around us.
Staff were constantly off on the sick with chest problems.
It's a smell (the fumes, not the staff, I mean, though come to think of it...Lol) that's hard to forget.

It doesn't sound very nice, exhaust is not pleasant - sweet peas are better!

It wasn't, but it was a job.
Why couldn't I have discovered gardening sooner?
I'd have been happy doing that for a living. Lol.

Well - you're a gardener now, fully equipped with all its joys and obsessions!

Heaven help me, you're right! :-)
