Thanks Jane... This is a small pie-shaped field of sunflowers, just outside of Renfrew (Ontario). Last year we had a very dry summer and the corn (mais) in the field was stunted and the yield was poor. The farmer opted for a crop that was not as moisture sensitive and it looks like a success. The field hummed with bees.

Are you trying to entice me back into goy Lori! lol
Lovely sunflowers, they will always take me straight back down what is now memory lane. Had not expected to see them as a viable farmcrop down your way though. It must have been quite a risky strategy with your short summers?
Good to see them doing so well.

Well, there you are! hello! Are you settled yet?
Goy is still my fav site on the internet, M.
This summer has been one of the coolest I can remember. We had near zero temps C on various nights in August! It's been so strange that everyone comments. Usually our growing season is quite adequate to grow all the usual crops; corn, wheat, oats, barley, etc. as well as market veggies and sunflowers..but after last summer when we had very little rain..and then this summer, when we've had nothing but...the confusion is complete...animals, crops and farmers are all wondering just what it was that hit them?! lol. we're hoping for a warm autumn and a short winter. ever the optimist!
Nice to hear from you again.
