Thanks, I've had it for 3yrs and it was 3-4yrs old when I bought it. It's a miniature that has 2 types of apple, an old variety called James Grieve and Elstar. Last year I didn't have a single fruit but this year it looks like only the James Grieve has fruited.Still it's better than nothing :-)

Looks like enough apples for a pie or two.

They are really good as they are eaters and great to cook too :-)

I have not heard of James Grieve apples here in western Canada.

It's an old variety that isn't seen in the shops now.........'The James Grieve Apple tree is a favourite dual-purpose Scottish variety raised during the Victorian period. This mid-season apple can be picked from September and has a slightly acidic yet refreshing taste that can be used in cooking as well as eating fresh from the tree. Its shape is kept when cooked so you can have apple chunks rather than puree in your deserts and pies. As the harvest season continues the flavour becomes sweeter and milder with soft flesh similar in texture to a pear.'
I found this description on a website that was selling the trees.

Thank you Nanjo for the info. I also like to grow heirloom plants.
