Plums-a-plenty if they will ripen before the wasps and the birds get them!!

They sure are Melchisdec when you have your own tree. The ones on sale in the shops are usually picked too soon before they are truly ripe - such a difference.

Wonderful plums. Are they red when ripe?

When perfect they are a pinky, shaded PALEST goldy colour - no green as you find on shop bought ones!!
.... and so juicy & sweet - mmmmmarvellous!!!! :))))

Sadly, we lost our tree about three years ago to silver leaf. I now use it as a feeding station for the birds and grow clematis and honeysuckle through it, so it still contributes - but no plums :-(

I think I might have seen a photo of your 'feeding station' Mel.. Have you had one on Goy?
If not - someone else has the same idea!!

Yes - it was probably mine. It's very well attended at the moment - loads of tits and a family of robins with two juveniles, one of which is just beginning to grow a red breast.

I have never seen this variety around here. They do look delish.

This is the Victoria growing in the half barrel and they seem to be o.k., but I have posed a query on Goy about our other Victoria Plum tree growing in the garden, being ruined by grubs or something!!

Lucky you Shirl our new tree it yet to get properly established ,last year it had one overloaded branch with delicious plums this year nothing :o(

We had one like that years ago, we had to prop up branches because of the weight of plums!
... it died after a year of glut!!!! Hope yours won't do the same!!

That's cheered me up no end Shirl ,I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry !

sorry Amy! :(
I do hope your plum tree will do better than ours.
That one of ours was very old, so maybe it was it's last big push in it's death throes!!!!
This picture I have put on is our 'new' one in a half barrel & it is doing well, but our other older one in the garden is very disappointing.
Plenty of plums but practically all that we have picked have had grubs & black stuff in them!! Uneatable!!!
I guess we need to spray it or something early on in the year.
I did enter a question about it on Goy, but haven't had much response to it.
