This is a large cutting, with two others I received from someone in the Palm Society here in San Diego, CA. His Plumerias trees were huge and only about 5 years old. Tomlinson Plumeria has a large violet, very fragrant flower. I just planted it into the ground today. Photo taken Sept. 10, 2013.

Yes, this is a big cutting...and yes you can have an instant tree with large plumeria cuttings.
I remember a story of an another (IPS- International Palm Society) friend from Guadalajara, Mexico. He chopped a 20ft (6m) tall wild plumeria cutting from the hills around his village and dragged it through the streets to his home. Then planted in in the ground and it grew and bloomed very fast as an instant tree (this is quite common in tropical areas).
The larger the plumeria cutting the easier they root. The only challenge for the first 5 months is getting it staked so it doesn't topple over.

Like Alexandra said that is some cutting, makes my seedlings look a bit silly .

Big cuttings root easiest. They also flower much faster. This one is flowering right now...and it's just started to root a few weeks ago.
