I really want to see the flower on this plant; however, it was the worst spot in the world to plant it. The bananas and Ficus cyathistipula take all the water and nutrients in this area.

It looks healthy- I have one. They want full sun in California. I ordered mine in spring.and it took two months to acclimate from the Florida heat and humidity to the Hayward 80f "heat" and 46% summer humidity. Really nice purple undersides.

Will it flower in winter or next spring? We will find out!

Here I think it needs some shade, the sun is extremely hot and intense here in inland San Diego. I had many plumerias burn in heat waves...even my large tree in the ground burned back in Sept of 2012. This is when my Plmeria obtusa 'Singapore' was literally cooked (and eventually died)...it was more than 100ºF and up to 108ºF from 9:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. (almost 12 hrs of above 100ºF). Even large trees in the neighborhood were badly burned...as the humidity was extremely low, only around 5%.

Sorry about the P.obtusa- I know how it feels to lose something you've grown for years.

I'm on my very first try with one. Great looking foliage. I've read they are actually more cold tolerant in California then P.rubra. This winter will be a test.

Yes, I had the P. obtusa 'Singapore' since 1996. I was really sad! :>( However, they are pretty commonly sold here.

P. obtusa 'Singapore' is definitely much, much more tropical than P rubra. I had a Plumeria 'Celadine' survive the 1990 freeze in a protected area in the ground covered with a box.

Well,its January..and not a single sign of a bud on C.quadrilculare. And we couldn't have had a milder winter for it.
The plant itself looks like summer Coleus. Just no bloom.

Good luck with your C. quadrilculare flowering. Mine looks absolutely horrible! I'm about ready to rip it out of the ground. Actually, I may move it to a sunnier spot. Mine has never bloomed in all the years I've had it.
