interesting how fast they learn, Amy. Rufus no longer hides when he sees me with the brush. Guess he's a grownup now.
I never realized how many different plants use animal transit for their seeds dispersal. There's a type of Forget-Me-Not that has burrs. Found that out the hard way...I grew it beside the pond in Cornwall and they are really the "stick tight" type. Mandy was not as cooperative as Rufus! she hated the brush!

Cornwall do you mean Cornwall England Lori ? We have had a cat friend this summer he / she has been in the habit of coming into the garden to sunbathe it lets stroke it and likes to fuss us by rubbing round our legs it's a lovely ginger cat but we can't decide if it has a home of it's own , it is often sitting on our front door mat under the porch at night time when we go to bed ,it came in one night had a look round and then curled up on a kitchen chair ,I tried to make it go outside but in the end left it where it was it jumped on our bed in the morning to wake us up . we don't feed it ! we have made enquiries but it's not leading anywhere so far , it reminds us of the last cat we had ........

You have been adopted! What a wonderful compliment. Ginger cat too, he's sure to be loveable. Maybe you could find a Cat-Cam. Saw a post on Facebook about a klepto-cat..who kept bringing home clothing and stuffed animals. The owner used a cat cam to identify the theif. quite funny.

He / she has been here again tonight Lori , it had a lovely game in the sitting room chasing some sparkling ribbon and then settled on the settee for a snooze ,we had to trick it to go outside before we could go to bed :o))

Has anyone moved away from your area recently? Cats are usually very independent creatures but by the sounds of it your home/garden area says "home" to this kitty-cat. I named our gingercat K.C....short for Kitty Cat. he was a sweetie. have a pic of him attending to his grooming while the little love bird (Yoshi) nibbled his eyebrows! lol.

We have a long hair cat that spends all day in the garden. I call it Spooky. It has a Tabby back and white underneath. It is fed next door in the sheltered housing over the windowsill. It has a real banner of a tail. It sometimes curls up on the back door mat but gets up and slowly walks away, if I enter the kitchen. Keeps its fur absolutely pristine . It has stopped jumping a 7 foot wall to get next door and walks over our bungalow roof and canopy to get over next door for a feed.....feeling its, age and a wise cat. Cats can be strange creatures and all so different in temperament too.

I don't know of anyone moving away Lori , this cat loves a fuss but you mustn't touch his tummy he / she rolls about on his back inviting you to tickle his tummy his claws are like razers he instantly grabs your hand I have the scars on my wrists to prove it ! he was asleep outside on our doormat under the porch when we went to bed last night. you know what they say : nobody owns a cat - they own you ! You are right about cats being strange creatures Dorjac .......

I think most are the absolute essence of CAT...with their own little pecadillos to define them individually. Rufus doesn't like his tummy rubbed either...he does the same thing. Just bought a Degu. It's still very small but will grow to resemble a larger version of a gerbil. I love my critters. Rufus is being trained to recognize house animals...as opposed to outdoor game!
Spooky sounds like a very wise gentleman, Dorjac. As I said above just different enough to be an individual...but essentially a CAT...with all that that entails. Perhaps these cats have been living the highlife this summer and sense the approach of winter and looking for a nice warm home with people to feed them thro the cold time? ;-)

The cats I have had lodging on the garden furniture or under shrubs have both been long haired cats. So winter survival less of a prob for them I suppose. Both have been too wary to be in the house any length of time. Ginger away like a shot when I appeared but Spooky never runs......he strolls off just far enough away. He is very swift with his claws too. You are allowed 2 strokes and out they come. Cardboard boxes provided when it gets cold.

Our ' visitor ' is going to miss us from Friday onwards we are going down to Hampshire in the New Forest alternating our time between visiting friends and my OH's one remaining brother ,a month ago he was diagnosed with neck cancer they couldn't operate as it was too advanced they sent him home with morphine ,we couldn't believe how much he has gone downhill in such a short space of time ,yesterday they managed to get him into a hospice where they have made him much more comfortable ,he had a good night last night !
It will be interesting to see if 'CAT ' still visits when we come home or if he will find pasture new !

So sorry to hear of your brother-in-law's battle. These are precious days.
If you haven't been feeding CAT and he's still around I don't see any reason why he would go away. He probably lives down the lane and when you're back..he'll be back. ;-)

Thanks Lori , you are right we need to live everyday as best we can ! we haven't been feeding ' CAT ' as we were worried that if it did have a proper home somewhere we would be leading it astray , time will tell :o)
