Italian Wall Lizards' Great Escape to Paradise

These Italian Wall Lizards escaped from a nearby pet shop 12 years ago and found their way to my back yard. They've earned their keep by eating every bug in sight and have multiplied like crazy. They are quite amusing to watch as they scurry about. I didn't think they could survive the harsh New York winters but that's not a problem for them.

I'd love to send you some of mine Simbad. They are quick and slick and hard to catch. Sometimes they wonder into the house, but they are harmless. These are suppose to be somebody's pet, but they have moved in a naturalized in my back yard (not just mine). I'm still amazed by how they make it through the unforgiving winters here in New York - they are not telling! Every spring I see little baby ones running around too.

Simbad Yes I am amazed especially considering that they are native to Italy. I would freeze to death out there in no time. So what do they do when it's 5 degrees out??
Suey187 Yes they are lots of fun to watch and are no trouble at all. They keep all those pesky bugs out of my vegetable garden and they are happy to do it.

Mmm now I could do with a few of these especially if they like slugs and snails :-), mind you I did see one very fat hedgehog in the garden last night so he's getting rid of a few.
