Now here's a plant that asks for nothing yet gives and gives. It loves the "dog days" of Summer here in New York State

Thank you Petaltracey and Simbad. I'm so glad I found this site. It is so lively and dynamic and it's great to share ideas/thoughts with other gardeners. There is always more to learn and discover.

its a pity you did not go to Grantchester meadows steeped in history...and i promise you the best scones EVER (in my opinion) not really a garden (flowers) Grantchester but orchards really...the place of poets....
Rochester i love!! the Tea Rooms and Gardens - Rochester Cathedral ive never visited tho....
the beer gardens sound interesting...must have quite a few different plants than we have...

Yes I remember the scones and clotted cream with raspberry sauce. They are almost worth going back for. There is a little tea shop on Greenwhich Street here in New York City called "Tea and Company". It's the only place I know where I can go for High Tea and they pull out all stops. The line to get in goes half way down the street.

Hi Jane: Correction The name is "Tea and Sympathy" LOL sorry about that. Now you can Google it. It's on 108 Greenwich Ave New York, NY 10011. It's been around forever so that says a lot. They really know how to do high Tea. It's a restaurant with an adjoining tea shop. The only problem is getting a table without waiting a long time. If you ever come to New York, I'll be happy to treat you to High Tea.

Not if you don't include the prints on the wall paper. It's not very hospitable for plants - too dark, kinda smokey, noisey. However you do get to drink the plants - all kinds of teas and such. There may also be flowers in a vase on your table.
