Today I struck Gold! Yukon Golds. Not bad for a first harvest. Almost 3lbs of near perfect potatoes. They are wonderful any way you want to prepare them. I can't wait to make roast chicken.

Hi Jane, I hope you give these a try. My favorite way to prepare them is to simply quarter them (the large ones), toss them around in olive oil, salt and pepper, then roast them at 400ยบ F for about an hour. You don't need to peel them at all. You can throw in some sliced carrots for good measure if you like.

There's nothing better than growing your own potatoes Bathgate! We like to grow first earlies - Arran Pilot. I like to wander down the garden dig a few up, then bring them into the kitchen - just rinse the soil off and then it's straight into a saucepan of boiling water. Then taste so much better than those from the shops!

I agree Petaltracey. There is nothing better then growing your own. This was my first attempt to grow potatoes and was surprised how easy it was. That means I dig up some more grass to plant even more next year. These are fantastic but grow so quickly, I can plant a second crop. I'd like to try some other varieties.
