Larch trees which sustained hurricane in 2004.

The woods there were destroyed by 1/3 of a former area. But larch trees survived everywere. I remember that somebody said to me in childhood, that larch trees´wood was used by Romans to built their fortresses and ships. Because their wood is very resistant to split, water and fire. It is rich in resin.

How interesting, Katarina - I didn't know that. It is always sad to see an area which has been spoiled in some way, when we can remember how it was before.

And what abour bears, deers, rabbits, wild cats and squirrels....they lost their home in a night.
