Yes it's the colour that I love. Bougies are notorious thugs here, and I'm not a big fan of them, but this one can be kept under control because it's growing in one of the driest patches of poor soil at my place.

Yes it's definitely in the right spot, so I don't ever have to trim it back.

just been looking at some on-line photos of this plant its amazing :-) and fits in perfect; in its native climate...
i saw it also looking like a tree and someone had trained it so it looked as if it sat on top of their low garden walk....which was painted a lovely cream colour...:-)

You're most welcome, Janeplant. I've seen Bougainvillea used in all sorts of ways, but there's a lot of work to be done keeping it under control here in the tropics. The thorns make that job rather unpleasant.

Yes the vines are covered in rather nasty, sharp thorns. You need industrial type gloves and heavy shirts and trousers when trying to trim these lovely plants.
