Holly,we are wintering in Mexico and we rent this house.
These pots are made by local Mexican potters. I tried to bring some back to Canada in previous years but they do not like the wet climate on Vancouver Island.

Glad you like the pots Delonix. Somehow they just fit this climate. Flame vine seems to grow well here and . judging from yor pictures San Diego must have similar climate

Yes, the pots are very cheerful and bright! They're very popular here, also. I think it's because of the Mexican influence being a bordering city with Mexico.

You are right, it used to be Mexico (before 1848).

Yes, most of California belonged to Mexico.

Allamandra. I miss mine. Grew all summer one year. Never lasted a normal wet winter. Indoors overwintering,it would get every pest. I had to give up on them.

Stan,
Allamanda is pretty much ungrowable in the SF Bay Area. Most are very tropical. Maybe last winter it would have made it through the winter.
I love my Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'! It grows very well here. I'm actually surprised my plant still has some flowers on it. This is considering it's been cooler and wetter than normal for the last 2 or 3 weeks.
