a Christmas cake

A Christmas cake? I don't think I ever had Christmas Cake. Would it go nice with a cup of Earle Grey Tea?

Well well well , its a massive Christmas tradition in the UK , its basically a fruit cake topped with marzipan and Royal icing , my mum would bake the cake in August and then put into cake tin and fed brandy until December then the apricot jam smeared over the top and then the marzipan then the royal icing. dressed with a sprig of holly and other decorations.

Earl grey is a late morning tea, which the Queen mother used to have , I find it too perfumed to drink and prefer the English breakfast tea , but tea would be fine to have with the Christmas cake.

In America, Earl Grey is sometimes spelled 'Earl Gray' instead, though this is not a generally accepted spelling of the name.

I love it when the European market comes to my town , food from Germany France Holland and many others , and they all produce amazing Christmas treats

Have you heard of Christmas pudding served hot with white sauce

I have good friends that live in Rochester and Leeds. They always take me to those fabulous Tea Gardens with the beautiful ladies walking around with trays of scones, clotted cream and raspberry jam. I could live in one those gardens. We don't have them here, beer gardens yes, but not tea gardens. That Christmas Cake sounds very nice - and I'd leave the brandy in. LOL

Sounds lovely Bathgate :-), we often visit Harlow Carr gardens in Harrogate which has the famous Betty's Tearoom yummy cakes etc there as well, there's another in the town centre too and people queue round the corner outside waiting for a seat.
