New Cymbidium flowers

New Cymbidium flowers (Cymbidium)

Two of my older plants succumbed to the industrial fans last year, so this is a replacement. :-))

No, Driad, it's an orchid. They are quite spectacular when they're in flower!

Thanks, Dd. :-)))

Lovely Spritz and don't the flowers last a long while. I've just cut our one and only orchid back and It must have been flowering for 5 months. The leaves were going a bit faded so I've fed it.

I should feed mine - thanks for the reminder. Yes, they last for weeks and weeks...and this plant has new flower stems on the way. :-)

It was a howling gale, Meanie. They just got too cold...poor things!

I let mine take a light frost before bringing them in! Just throwing up its flower spikes now.

I used to, but found that if I left them indoors, they flowered again anyway, so I don't bother now. It's strange...my old one that survived has flower spikes, too. :-)))

Interesting...............

Must admit that shoving them outdoors means that I can forget about them for a while.

iv'e moved the leafy one that refuses to flower [Phalenopsis?] from the bathroom window sill [north facing] to the kitchen window which is west facing but at this time of year not to hot. Hope this will encourage the little darling to flower.
What do you feed yours on Spritz?

Would you believe 'Orchid food' :-D)

Your orchid needs a place where it's about 5 degrees cooler than its normal position. Leave it to sulk there for three weeks, then liberate it and see what happens! It works for me...
