Yes they do have a pretty metallic coloring, I should take a picture of it's larger cousin the june bug that also munches in the garden, makes theses look like babies...lol. Luckily I don't have near as many to these in the garden.

OHHHHH....what are they? I have seen beetles similar on the milkweed in the field next to my house... they skeletonize any plant they decide they like...they(or was it their larva?) ate milkweed and physalis... the latest scourge in my garden are the ugly earwigs...they make lace out of anything and nest in the leaf axils and even in the buds of some plants. Sorry to see them defoliating such a lovely plant...

Poor you, so hard when some other force wrecks your garden. They are kind of cool looking bugs even if they are horrible.
