Thanks Sandra. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I took these on a Sunday afternoon on the way home from a holiday party. It was on my way. They are amazing works of art.

Thanks for these very interestingpitures.
When the London underground tube was first built very few working class people could read and write and that of course included the underground staff.
To get over this problem each station had a unique coloured pattern along the entire length of its platforms (as well as having written station names) this unique coloured pattern told passengers and drivers who could not read which station they had arrived at.
Sadly of the many miles of tiles very few original tiles remain.

Our subways have come a long way from what I remember growing up. However the fare also went from 35ยข to $2.50 so we pay for it.
