there's still about a foot to go before it reeached the bank edge, and it's an uphill slope to the houses, so we should be fairly safe, barring tsunamis!

Lots to explore Fran. Having a stream near to you but not too near is lovely. Dragon flies will come and visit. Maybe ducks like Gee has nesting in her garden. Nice bird song.....lovely.

i hadn't thought of dragonflies etc! it'd be lovely to sit down there quietly and just see what happens along. The whole valley is a nature reserve, and there are "things to look out for" notices here and there. but then, the open ground is also a dog-walking open space, so it's not exactly isolated. Maybe I'll have to build a hide.

lol from the passing dogs and people aas well! they'll wonder what the flip I'm up to. but there are various stretches to the nature trail, not all of which are on the main path, so I should be able to find somewhere dog-free so sit and chill

oh, love dogs, and would love to have one (it's allowed, here, but not sure that I'd be able to look after one properly; not fair on it if it turns out that I can't) - just with dogs running up and down and barking at each other and each other's people, not very conducive to a relaxed atmosphere to encourage wild life to show itself!
