Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'

Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' (Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee')

My Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' is blooming in the very warm to hot weather we've had the whole month of January here in inland San Diego, CA. We've had mid-summer weather for over 6 weeks. Photo taken Jan. 23, 2014.

Thanks! :>)

Maybe February we'll get some winter rains in San Diego (I hope so, anyway). It's feeling too much like summer in the middle of winter. We typically have a mild subtropical climate...winter isn't too difficult to take here.

Meanie:

The strange thing is, that it should look better in spring, summer and fall...not the middle of winter. LOL!

The very hot temps are gone for now, this past Thursday was the last hot day (which lasted 7 weeks). We actually received 0.01 (.25 mm) of an inch of showers last night (barely enough to wet the sidewalk). This will be January's official rain total. We actually thought we would not receive any rain at all, though (if you call this rain. lol) We're hoping for some rain in February and March! These are the only two month we have left of the rainy season here in San Diego.

"The very hot temps are gone for now"

Dread to think how cold it is there now!!

The lack of rain is worrying though..............

Meanie:

It's feeling very cold compared to the hot weather we've had from: 78 - 90ºF (26 -32ºC). The high today is only going to be around 68ºF (20ºC), FRIGID!!! LOL!

Yes, the drought is so severe. Some of the water reservoirs are only down to 17%. We're in a water emergency here in California.

We could do with some drought here at this time

Smileamyl:

You definitely don't want drought. It's not a good feeling to have so little water and be on water-restrictions.

Northern California has had some good rains in the last 5 days. We still need much, much more rain to ease the drought throughout the whole state, though.

The 80ºF (27ºC) weather will be returning in the next day here in inland San Diego and lasting for a while.
