We have snow here in Scotland. I have to say we have been really lucky compared with people who have had so much rain and storms. I can't stop checking the latest weather news on the TV. It is extraordinary.

News just now Meadowland a garage roof has collapsed on a main road here from last nights winds. Your right not going out on your own , mydaughter left on the bus, she was watching from the bus a large piece of metal swinging from a large bill board side of the road , she though it would come offand hit the bus, then a big gust of wind sent it flying towards the bus the driver swerved to miss it which could of coursed an acciedent as the wind dropped just in time for him to run over it. He got on his radio and reported it . He asked what it was , my daughter told him , he said thats more paper work when I get back.

Lids is right...we have got off extremely lightly this winter. Sorry to hear about all the terrors in the south. It's so hard for everyone affected :(((

3d I drove past the Sinkhole on the M2 on Tuesday! Thankfully it's now been filled in, and I would have missed it if I hadn't seen the sandy coloured soil in the middle reservation - The fast lane had been closed and I was driving slowly...

At least you got to see it and your safe also lucky it did nt open wider which would of caused I m sure a pile up. Its what kind of earth all our homes etc are build on, sandstone, lime, sand as the rain dissolves it all, clay is best that last a millennium. The worse is in parts of Yorkshire where those others appeared, it mentioned Bridlington too another part of Yorkshire.

A good idea Julia, to look back on photographs taken at this time last year... I've got lots of my lovely crocus coming up in the bank out in the front garden. But they've been knocked sideways in the gales... When that happens they just can't recover :o(
