Croton - Codiaeum variegatum 'Angel Wings'

Croton - Codiaeum variegatum 'Angel Wings' (Croton - Codiaeum variegatum 'Angel Wings')

This is the first time my croton has bloomed so much during a winter. It's really tropical and doesn't typically bloom during winter (very much) even in our subtropical climate. However, with the very hot temps we've had this winter it's been blooming like the middle of summer. Photo taken Feb. 26, 2014.

This winter all my crotons have been flowering a growing like crazy. We've had very warm to hot weather all this winter. Right now we're in the middle of a heatwave and another much hotter heatwave is on it's way from: Wednesday - this coming weekend...maybe the first 100ºF (38ºC) temps for this year, possibly? We've already had record high temps today in many parts of Southern California; however, most of the record temps were in the 88º - 92ºF (31 - 33ºC) range.

So now we know who got all the good weather?

Yes, we've had such warm to hot weather all winter long. It's not common for it to be this hot all winter.

I've seen some Jack fruit trees with fruit this year. It's not a common sight here in San Diego to see Jack fruit trees with fruit. They're extremely tropical and not very common. They don't even fruit reliable well in Miami, Florida (which is much hotter and more humid than San Diego all year).
