Yes, have you grown these Sandra?

14 Mar, 2014

Yes,only mine are white ones..from seeds bought at Chelsea flower show a few years ago ..only one blue one,but that's the luck of the draw..I used to have a photo as my Avatar for quite a while..They are just starting to show :o)

I love the blue ones. I'm going to try to grow these. I always thought they were beyond my "green thumb" or "brown thumb"

I'm sure you will be quite capable of growing them Paul..just need to watch for slugs, having a love for them..I grew mine in pots at first, but as they got stronger ,they have survived the bad winters, with a deep mulch..I was told to keep the seeds in a plastic box in the fridge.whether that was to give them a period of cold,or to preserve them,I don't know..but I did as I was told..that doesn't happen often Lol.

I'm going to try these. Will they come back every year or do I need to reseed?

14 Mar, 2014

You don't need to reseed,Paul, they are hardy perennials..just get better each year...but with your harsh winters,it might be better to have them in pots, and overwinter them somewhere cold,if possible? I don't know what the lowest temperatures are, that they can survive in..

Thanks Sandra. I'll do a little research. I know with reseeding, it could take a couple years for them to bloom, and another year or two to really look nice.

That's correct Paul, but well worth the wait..and once they get going, they are wonderful..I had to buy some tall circular supports for mine, they get so top heavy now..

Good foresight Sandra! That should come in handy for our next "Storm of the Century" as they call them. They seem to be an annual occurance nowadays, LOL!

Very cold and strong winds here from lunchtime..We have been spoilt this past week with warm sunny days..I don't like such a contrast..:o(..but,this time last year we had heavy snow,so I shouldn't complain...time to say goodnight,Paul..catch you later..:o)

Good night Sandra, I'm with you on the cold. I just had enough of the bitter, biting, searing cold that rattles the bones. It's time for spring already... c'mon guys!
