This is a frustrating flower for me. When it is fully open tommorrow, there will be a strong wind that will rip it apart. It happens every time, so I appreciate the symmetry it has now.

Thanks. I saw your wishful thinking on Flickr - the green ones were made by breeding from the inside out; bigger throats until the whole flower became one large throat.
I looked up Euphorbia stygiana - it mainly grows on slopes because farmers have yanked it out. There is the main species, stygiana, and 2 variations.

I have seen them around the island, and they can get large.

Another lovely picture, I hate the wind but luckily for us we don't get it as bad as you.
I planted a Euphorbia 'Stygiana' last autumn sent to me by botanicalady critically endangered in the wild, I found a nice sheltered spot away from strong winds as I didn't want to loose it, don't know why I did that its endemic to the Azores!!!!!
