Scopolia camiolica var. brevifolia

Scopolia camiolica var. brevifolia

Bought at the rare plant fair yesterday - it's a shade lover.

Just googled it and found this...A source of scopolamine, used as a premedication prior to surgery, comes from the golden-flowered Hladnik’s scopolia, Scopolia carniolica var. brevifolia which also commemorates the physician Dr. Giovanni Anton Scopoli (1723-1788).

A plant I'd never heard of! :)

I did the same, K. It must be an 'old' plant, mustn't it!

I've been growing the specie plant for about eight years now. It has flowers that are maroon and yellow. I must look out for this one though.

Looks lovely Spritz the flowers seem to have a paper like look about them.
