DISTURBING SIGHT

DISTURBING SIGHT

I'm sure this is fresh blood on my viburnum leaf, no idea where it could have come from, rather disturbing.

Gralew, I would never had said it lol. Definitely not mine, I hadn't been near it, although I did have some scratches after gardening:-)

That's what I thought Karen, I did look around the pots for a small body, but found nothing. I do have a few little field mice living near the house and wondered if one of them had been spotted by a hawk. I do try to put food near their nest so they don't have to venture out far to eat:-)

Aw, BA, you are so kind to the little creatures. I haven't caught any in my traps for months now.....they were coming in to our loft space because the previous owner was feeding birds right up against the kitchen, right beside a decked area where they had moved in and started to colonise! Some people just have nae common sense! ;) Thank goodness it's stopped now, I hate killing them, but it was desperate....two a day for a long time! They were making dust out of the pipe lagging and there is so much wiring in there, we were worried for our home and our lives! Now I feed the birds further away from the house, at the front, so that seems to have solved it...phew!

Were they field mice Karen? I didn't think they came inside:-0 I did have to get rid of house mice once at my old house, it was awful, I had nightmares about them dying. We had a farm at the back of our old house and when it was developed for housing, all the rats left and invaded the adjoining properties, didn't get in the house, but everywhere else. I used to breed and show my lovely toy poodles at the time, so was afraid of them getting leptospirosis from the rats. Eventually I had to follow my neighbours' lead and call in the council. Sometimes it has to be done, but I wish they could find a kinder way than the poisons which they use. I don't even like killing garden pests ... but I will kill aphids, sawfly, weevils, lily beetle and the evil capsid bugs which have ruined my geraniums, mainly Rozanne and Ann Folkard. Never had them until a couple or so years ago, they inject toxin into the leaves which not only distorts the leaves, but the flowers also, making them not worth growing:-(
