Yes, it is thorny bush, used as natural fence.

It's a great picture! I looked this plant up and it's a pretty bog-standard Berberis, but in this picture it looks really beautiful! :))

Thank you, Scottish. Cottagekare@I think that it is very different from standard Berberis. I have standard bushes in a cluster, too. This one - is much higher, is nicely bowing from the top to the ground, its leaves are larger, blue-purple and flowers are very decorative in the spring, while standard Berberis have them very small. It is question of preferences.
