I'll have to try to get a clearer pic, hadn't noticed any "nibble"! When I think of hyacinths, I think of the tall flowers on a single tall stem, so never assoicated this with them. Shee, I have so much to learn

Well, the leaf looks chewed, and it's broad like a hyacinth leaf. Also, I find that hyacinths planted outside generally come up a bit stunted and short. I've got some like that here that I didn't plant. They're still nice, but nothing like the forced ones we all buy in the winter to cheer ourselves up. Perhaps that's why they don't do as well in the ground..because they were forced bulbs that were planted outside when they had finished flowering.

ah, gotcha. perhaps being forced used so much energy that when they're "released" into the garden they're almost spent, , and when they recover they can assume their more natureal form? wild speculation, of course!

To my eye, it looks like a 'nibbled' Hyacinth. Lovely pale pink colour.
