I like the mottled effect ...

think that is just the shadow being cast by the rose bushes, there are three in the front of the rose border. I must look tomorrow, haven't noticed mottling so do think it is just the shadow Shirley. Will let you know. :O)

Lol Barbara - it looks good, even if it is the shadow! I finally made up the wall baskets and put a couple of plum coloured Heucheras in each with some trailing plants too - they seem ok at the moment - time will tell if they can't take the South facing sun (when it shines!) ... :o)

Pictures please pretty please, they should be ok, my plum ones enjoy the sunshine, but after saying that they do not get it all day long, in fact nothing gets sunshine all day long in this garden with all the tall trees around.

The yellow variety always end up with rust , have given up buying them now, do you have any problems with them?

No dd not yet! Although I think we are in one of the driest areas in the country this side, I think damp does them a lot of damage with rust. The ones in the hanging baskets last year survived also and now they are in the ground and doing well too. This one is definitely greener than this picture shows, the sunlight trickery making it look more yellow than it really is. I did wonder if it would survive in this rose border because it gets quite a lot of sunshine but so far so good. :O)

Glad to hear that, we do get a lot of rain here....
