Mine roams free everywhere, it is lovely to see it growing like crazy, but not into the grass, lol. I hate chopping their heads off when I mow the paths, but it has to be done. lol. It looks ace Michaella and it will have a lovely perfume. My lily of the valley has even travelled underneath my concrete pathway and started to grow in the border 15 ft away from its original planting place. lol.

Thanks both...I inherited mine from next door, came from under the fence...I have transferred a few around other parts of the garden where I do not mind them spreading, so far they are going in the right direction. I inherited my winter aconite in the same way too, that's spreading nicely, I like the idea they disappear by the end of May, where there are other plants which then take over, like the hosta etc..

Michaella201, you have very kind neighbours, stocking your garden for you. We also have kind neighbours, their rose grew under the fence, into our garden, we have trained it up over an arch, looks fabulous in the summer.
We do have a laugh about it when we meet at BBQ's.

I wish..., managed to grow one with extreme care but only lasted 2 years before that also bit the dust, or rather the chalky soil! I hope to grow it in my new garden as we are now on clay. That gorgeous smell!

Hi Michaella, "Lily of the Valley" ... lovely fragrance, but be careful, if you don't want a border FULL of it. If you want to keep control of it, I would suggest keeping it confined in an old metal bucket (or similar), sunk in the ground. If it's free to roam .... it will.
