Laburnocytisus 2 (Laburnocytisus)

Only one branch of yellow Laburnum, but quite a few tufts of the purple cytisus in the centre of the tree.

Hi Did you get from "Bakers" ? .

Mine came down in the gales about a year ago , gutted I would love another one , is thep ink colour washed out or quite bright ? as mine was in bud for the 1st time , well actually it grew in two from the base (lead branches) , I knew I should of removed one at the time and one piece broke off and ripped the roots apart , it struggled for the summer then died !!!

Looks great

Hi Gnarly....no, from a local GC, must be 5years at least now. Thats a shame about yours, but to be quite truthful, the pink is a bit washed out...quite attractive, but not a very good growth shape.....I do prefer the basic Laburnum, I must say. Have a look at my next pic, you'll see all the blossoms there.

Is it ? amazing thanks for that info .Gnarly g. :o)

Yes, its supposed to Amy, also the purple Cytisus which it has too. It depends how your tree develops, I've seen one with equal parts which looks weird but wonderful. My tree has only one laburnum branch, they do look best if they're a whole mixture of the three.

I've always admired your tree other years Janey but hadn't noticed any yellow flowers before , I can imagine how wonderful it would look with a good mix !

Hi Janey

I was really tempted again to get another , but every tree I plant creates shade , looking forward to see what your tree looks like this year , my pocket handkerchief tree produced lots of seeds last year I have planted three up but its a two year process this year roots then hopefully 2016 shoots !!!

I've looked at pics online Gnarly....and they all are different.....I'm not keen on the growth habit of mine, it shoots straight up, only the laburnum part branches outwards, and the pink has a faded look. even though it's unusual, it seems manmade to me which of course it is! Doesn't produce shade, which would be a bonus for you.

Good luck with your little trees, hey you could use one as a Bonsai! I have a two year old seedling of a Melia tree, it's coming on very nicely, I may train it as a bonsai.
