Calla Lily 'Black Forest'.

Calla Lily 'Black Forest'.

This is the lily my daughter bought for me for Mothers day last year. It didn't flower last year but it has two flowers now. They are really dark red and the stems are a dark beetroot colour. It's got lovely white spotted leaves too. I think it's lovely.

That was a close one. Not all are so forgiving. It seems almost black and has a certain mystique about it. The speckled leaves are an added bonus.

If you want to experiment with this in the pond go to Aldi. Buy one for £3.99 (they had some pretty full pots in my local one) and use that for the experiment.

I don't generally have much luck with seeds - well, I never had before, but now I've got a garden and a greenhouse, that mgiht change - if I ever get round to finding out!

Fair enough - another two packets arrived from Australia that I ordered ten days ago and hadn't included!

I use a few Ozzy seed suppliers with good results Fran. This order was Bulbine glauca and Arthropodium milleflorum (Vanilla Lily).

Good luck with the Vachellia!
The seeds can be roasted and used as a substitute for coffee apparently.
