I wonder, if they will grow again next year, or do I have to preserve seeds from this year and seed it in the spring?

You can just let them seed. The seed heads look pretty. Just let them in Katarina . They open little holes on the top so when you finally take them out just shake them upside down. you will have twice as many next year. They are annuals ....will not grow from the same root.
