One of the first daylily seedlings to open on the allotment.
Wylie this might not be as hard as I first thought don't think this is a keeper is it ?, mind you it is a first flower so we'll see how it goes :-)

I took these pictures a couple of days ago but only just got round to putting them on, yesterday I went down, minus my camera as I didn't think any looked near opening, and there was another from this cross that did make me say Wow, yes it was maybe just a red but huge flowers and strangely a thin gold edge, where that came from I don't know, the flower wasn't open fully but lots more buds.
This flower wasn't really big I'd say maybe 4-5 inches.

With a gold edge, that makes it more special, and maybe worth saving - or at least giving it one more year. Hopefully there will be other seedlings from this cross that will have the size that you want. My first attempt at making my own was to self cross Red Volunteer. The result was a red that was smaller than the parent(s); and all the seedlings from that try have moved on.
The gold edge would have come from Octopus Hugs, which has one.

Just ask yourself if it is an improvement. Somewhere along the line I became a little jaded, and when I think I have seen something some where else, I know it won't be staying.
It is more like Helix, but is it as large? You are right about first flowers, but sometimes, there is love at first sight.
