I was weeding out some of the Lysimachia which was trailing/leaning over the other plants and this huge toad walked out. lol

I've lots of frogs in the garden, but no toads as far as I know. He's a fine specimen!

He is a beautiful creature, I wonder what on earth it was crawling around, he was moving really slow and clumbsily at first I thought it was a large lizard until I got a good look at him. lol :O) I love frogs and toads we do get a few newst too in and around the garden been a while since I saw a newt but I did disturb one when I was weeding the fishpond side early on this year so they are still around. :O)

Yesterday evening, I heard quite a commotion in the undergrowth at the bottom of the garden, in the wild area, and when I investigated, it was a hedgehog. They move at quite a pace, sort of on tiptoe. I have a pile of old wood down there, and I am sure that's where they live. I've seen a hedgehog about four times this season. I wish they'd eat a few more slugs! It just shows how many I must have (I mean slugs, sadly, not hedgehogs!)

We used to see lots of newts when I lived in the Surrey countryside as a girl. I haven't seen one for years, although my sister has some in her garden.

Wow, he's a biggie! You shouldn't have too much trouble with slugs etc from now on!
