Just bought this because I adore the cream flowers: then the leaves (apparently) turn red in autumn.

Hydrangeas are lovely. I have a H.petiolaris against a wall - the flowers are actually very similar to this. I have to admit that all the hydrangeas I know grow quite large, but that doesn't really mean anything much!

Susanne - I also have H. petiolaris, and love it. I'm not wild about the 'mop heads' but do like the paniculatas . . saw H. Kyushu in a garden yesterday and fell for that!
Btw, I haven't forgotten your Cowslip seeds, but they're not rattling yet (i.e not properly ripe).

Thanks Julia . . . I'm drawn to anything cream :)

Thank you so much Sheila - I'm glad one of us can remember!

I like this one alot. I can only get H. paniculata to flower in my garden, I do love Hydrangea 'Macrophylla' but they get frosted and just will not flower, very frustrating but thank goodness for H. paniculata, I have vanille fraise and pinky winky but like the flower heads on yours :-)

Thank you Dawn . . . I would look out for the two Hydrangeas you mention, but I'm not sure I have room in the borders for any more! Btw, I also have H. aspera Hot chocolate which is pretty and quite unusual.

Hi Sheila, wow just looked at H aspera hot chocolate, looks super and I need one. ;)

:)) It's thirsty Dawn, but then so am I quite frequently!

I hope you get more than rainwater, Sheila!

Certainly do Susanne, especially today as we're celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary. So it's Kir Royales for us this evening!

Congratulations! It's ours in December!

Thanks - congratulations to you too Mel . . . don't we deserve medals?!
24 Aug, 2014
I'm trying to figure out a diplomatic response to that, Sheila!

:)) Of course, our OHs deserve them too . . . I was given breakfast in bed this morning, for no reason at all!

46 years is a good enough reason, I reckon.
And of course the OHs deserve the medals as well! It's a great cause for celebration!

Is anyone else growing this?? I hadn't realised that it can get quite big, so probably won't be staying in its pot!
